Dover Gymnastics Club donation

The Supporters' Club has recently made a £200 donation to the Dover Gymnastics Club as they are looking to lay new flooring and are currently raising the funds to do so.

We met with Sarah, Nadia and Carrie to present the cheque.

If you or someone you know is looking at getting into gymnastics then we recommend you contact them. They said the following about what they do.

At Dover gymnastics Club we run as a charity and believe that gymnastics is an inclusive sport which can be enjoyed by people of all ages and from all backgrounds. Our club was established in 1976 and is one of the most successful and longest-running gym clubs in Kent. We run a selection of classes from our General and Advanced General gymnastics, to Pre-school and Kinder gym. We offer Trampoline classes as well as private sessions for disability groups. We have two competitive gymnastic squads Floor and Vault and Women's Artistic that do extremely well at competitions round the county.

We rely on donor's and fundraising events to help us continue running our club and keep our facilities up to date. We are currently fundraising to replace our flooring inside the gym to provide a better experience for all our users, more details of this can be found on our crowd funder page.

When we found out that Jake was working on individuals fitness and offering players extra PT sessions outside of the scheduled training, we purchased a set of jump boxes to help make these sessions as impactful as possible.

Help needed! British Heart Foundation football fan campaign 2024

You can see the communication we received from the Raw Research Casting Team below.

You can see more about them by clicking here.

If you’re interested and would like to speak to them you can email casting@rawresearch.co.uk with ‘BHF’ in the subject line.

Dear Dover Athletic ST team,

My name is Katie - I run the casting and research team at Raw Research Casting. I hope you don't mind us reaching out to you. We are working on a campaign for the British Heart Foundation that will be launched around the time of the start of the UEFA Euros. The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness about the fact that 12 young people lose their lives per week due to sudden cardiac death in the UK (an absolutely staggering statistic).

We are getting in touch with football networks all around the UK, as we are looking to speak to the families of young people (aged 35 and under) who lost their lives due to a sudden cardiac death in the last 20 years, who were also football fans. The plan is to paint beautiful murals of 12 football supporters who are no longer with us, dressed in their national side football kit (12 to represent the 12 young people who lose their lives each week). Each mural will also have some information about the person as part of the tribute to them. Their story will be treated with the utmost sensitivity - we’d work closely with each person's family to plan what the mural would look like. All families will be supported throughout by the BHF’s Heart Stories team and the production team.

Do you happen to know if your football community has experienced the loss of a young fan at any point in the last 20 years? We'd also be so grateful if you'd be happy to share the casting information with your network or perhaps even on your social media? If this is something you'd be prepared to do, please let us know and we can send you our campaign flyer.

Please let me know if you have any questions or if you'd like to chat further. It's going to be a really special campaign that will hopefully do some real good.

Kindest regards,
Katie
